The DfE has announced additional funding to support young people living in ‘Opportunity Areas’ to help make up lost learning time due to the pandemic, as well as levelling up education outcomes and tackling barriers to skills and employment. The Opportunity Area programme includes Hastings in East Sussex, which has been given further funding of £1.25 million for another year to continue the work to support children and young people’s return to school and to deliver enhanced literacy, maths, mental health and enrichment programmes.
