Ofqual Statement on Grading of VTQs

by | 0 comments

Ofqual has issued a statement to explain that the statistical standardisation approach – the grading algorithm – used in A levels and GCSEs was not used in most vocational and technical qualifications (VTQs), including BTECs. They have said that the small proportion of qualifications that did use a statistical standardisation approach similar to the one used for A levels, were being reviewed by the relevant awarding organisations. Earlier they also explained the grading of vocational and technical qualifications in this statement. Some students will now face a delay in receiving their results due to the review which now needs to take place, sector comment on this news can be read here. Pearson has stated that all results will be available by 28 August.

Ofqual has published a collection of documents and resources related to VTQs here.
