The Social Mobility Commission has published new research showing how earnings outcomes of children from different backgrounds vary across lower-tier local authorities.The report identifies local councils with the worst and the best social mobility in England. The commission is now urging regional and community leaders to use the findings to help draw up tailored, sustained, local programmes to boost social mobility, building on the approach in some Opportunity Areas.
