Legislation Amendment to Support Redundant Apprentices

by | 0 comments

The ESFA has announced that new legislation has come into force to allow more redundant apprentices to complete their apprenticeship. Currently, the ESFA funds apprentices to complete if they are made redundant within six months of their final day of training. The amended legislation will extend this support to also fund to completion all apprentices who are at least 75% of their way through their apprenticeship at the point of redundancy. This article highlights that the new legislation doesn’t apply retrospectively and so won’t provide support to those who are on longer programmes who have been made redundant before this legislation came into force.
