The House of Commons Library has published a suite of newly published research on the economy and employment:
- Coronavirus: Returning to work – discusses issues relating to returning to work. It provides an overview of relevant health and safety law and a discussion of Government guidance on working safely in the context of Covid-19.
- Coronavirus: Economic impact – examines the economic impact of the crisis to date and outlines the key issues for the outlook. It summarises policy measures introduced to mitigate the economic effects of Covid-19 and details the impact on the public finances.
- People claiming unemployment benefits by constituency – provides figures for the number of people claiming unemployment benefits (the “claimant count”) by parliamentary constituency, as well as a summary of the latest labour market statistics for the UK as a whole.
- Unemployment – National: Key Economic Indicators – data on unemployment in the UK.
- Employment – National: Key Economic Indicators – a summary of the latest data on employment in the UK.
- Youth unemployment statistics – presents the latest statistics on youth unemployment in the UK as well as comparisons with other EU countries.
- Average earnings by age and region – shows how average earnings have changed over time by region of the UK and for different age groups.
