Government Committed to Re-opening Schools Where Possible

The government announced their official position on 1 January that from Monday 4 January, London primary schools would close to most students but primary schools elsewhere were to stay open. In reaction to the news, most unions representing education workers urged the government to close all schools for at least a fortnight. The Education Secretary’s speech to Parliament outlining their plans can be read here. Brighton & Hove City Council has advised its primary schools to move to remote learning until Monday 18 January.
