Over forty members gathered at Plumpton Village Hall today for SCTP’s January Members’ Meeting. The meeting included a new member intro from Cute Dog Consulting and updates on SCTP activity including reports from recent AELP regional meetings covering the latest on non-levy tendering, 20% off-job-rule, subcontracting rules, T-levels and 16-19 funding as well as feedback on where providers might best position themselves in the apprenticeship market. There was also news from that morning’s AGM that saw Dan Wallman, Vanessa Potter and Sonya Mallin elected to the SCTP board – Joanne Bridger continues as Chair and Charlotte Blant takes up the role of Vice-Chair. There was also information on SCTP’s forthcoming CPD events and the latest news on the Apprenticeships in Sussex website and events service and current projects including SCTP’s work on ‘Teach Too’. Members heard presentations from Caroline Bragg from ESCC on the strategic skills work taking place and opportunities emerging in the county; Louise Aitken from the South East LEP on their new Strategic Economic Plan and the latest on ESF funding; Richard Alberg from MWS who explored the potential advantages of providers using technology in a wide range of areas of their businesses and Mike Cox from national network AELP, summarised the current issues for training providers and the work AELP was doing to lobby for positive change. Members had the chance to network and highlight key issues for SCTP to take forward in its lobbying and representation role. Minutes will be issued to members shortly but for those who need early access to the presentations they are on the resources page of the SCTP website. The next Members’ Meeting is at Clair Hall, Haywards Heath on the 22nd March, 9.30-1.00.
