Edge Foundation Research: New Higher Education Institutions in England – A Real Chance to Innovate?

The Higher Education and Research Bill set out to make it easier and quicker for new higher education providers to start-up, attain degree awarding powers and secure university status. These new higher education institutions (HEIs) were intended to be high quality, innovative and specialist institutions. Given this context, a small number of potential higher education providers have identified gaps in the market and an opportunity to take a non-traditional approach to HE delivery.
