The Behavioural Insights Team was commissioned by the Digital Skills Council to research the barriers and perceptions affecting the take-up of digital courses and careers and identify the most effective messages to improve the take-up of digital subjects and drive interest in digital careers. The work involved 2 projects:

  • Project 1 looked at young people in key decision stages in their education (FEchoosers (aged 15-16), HE choosers (16-18) and career choosers (18-25).
  • Project 2 looked at early career switchers (aged 27-35) and experienced professionals aged 50+, including those who left the workforce during the pandemic.
