Impact of ILR Data Cut Raises Concern Among Mayoral Combined Authorities About Future Destinations

The government’s decision to cease collecting destination and progression data through the individualised learner record (ILR) has displeased mayoral combined authorities. DfE officials released next year’s ILR specification on January 31, and revealed the destination and progression entity is to be removed. This means that colleges and training providers can no longer log their destinations and progression data, often used for Ofsted inspections and mayoral combined authority (MCA) performance meetings for adult education budget contracts, through the central ILR system from September 2024.
