New skills minister Luke Hall has supported a proposal to train industry professionals as “FE lecturer reservists,” akin to armed forces reservists. The pilot initiative aims to recruit automotive technicians and engineers in the West Midlands to undergo teaching courses, assisting FE colleges while maintaining their industry roles. It addresses teacher vacancies in further education and skills shortages in the automotive sector. The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) are spearheading the project, aiming for implementation in the near future. Click here for more.
