On Thursday 9 May, members of the House of Lords debated the importance of skills for the success of the UK economy and for the quality of life of individuals. The importance of skills is recognised across the main political parties in the UK and evidence suggests that greater skill levels benefit the economy as a whole but also provide significant economic and social benefits for the individuals who possess them.
