Rishi Sunak has announced that a general election will be held on Thursday July 4, kickstarting a campaign “for Britain to choose its future”. The prime minister recently spoke with His Majesty the King, to request the dissolution of parliament, which the King has since granted, meaning that parliament will dissolve on May 30. Public bodies will then be subject to pre-election rules meaning they cannot do anything that could have a bearing on matters relevant to the election, however a date for when the pre-election period officially starts has not yet been announced.
