As of the 1st August 2024, apprentices with learning differences without an Education, Health and Care Plan will be able to work towards a lower level of functional skills. This new guidance follows a positive SEND pilot that encapsulated 20 training providers across the UK. Widening the flexibilities in english and maths for apprentices with learning disabilities/or difficulties will encourage greater uptake and hopefully higher completion rates.
