Recently, the Government announced their commitment to a genuine living wage as part of their plan to Make Work Pay. For the first time, the Low Pay Commission (LPC) will factor the cost of living when deciding the Minimum Wage and Living Wage rates in a move to put more money in working people’s pockets. The Government will also take steps towards making rates the same for everyone, regardless of age, by narrowing the gap between the National Minimum wage and the National Living wage. At the time of writing, the National Minimum Wage for 18-20 year olds is £8.60, whereas the National Living Wage for those 21 and over is £11.44. Click here for more.
