The ESFA has published details of the 2020 to 2021 funding system for the adult education budget (AEB) and 16 to 18 traineeships. Version 1 of the AEB funding rates and formula guide for 2020 to 2021 has been published and the ESFA have said that there are no changes to the funding rates or the funding calculation this year. The draft AEB funding rules 2020 to 2021 have been published, with an update to follow in June regarding performance management. They have noted that both publications cover the current advice for the funding year and they may publish further updates about the impact of COVID-19 on the funding rules or guidance as these become clear via the ESFA Update. This article comments on the fact that the draft funding rules have not included any changes to subcontracting following the ESFA’s consultation on subcontracting earlier this year.
