The DfE has published the Apprenticeship statistics for the period August 2017 to June 2018 giving 11 months of data developing into a reliable picture of apprenticeship starts performance. There have been 341,700 apprenticeship starts reported to date between August 2017 and June 2018 for the 2017/18 academic year. This compares to 472,500 (-27%) and 458,500 (-25%) starts reported in the equivalent period in 2016/17 and 2015/16 respectively. Comparative figures for June are volatile due to a massive fall in starts in June 2017 after the introduction of the levy so the year to date figures are a better indicator.
