The Social Mobility Commission has published a report on Apprenticeships and social mobility. The report looks at areas of concern and warns that disadvantage gaps exist at every stage of the apprenticeship journey. The report calls on the government to look at barriers and take action to channel resources where they will have the greatest effect, and sets six targets for the government to meet by September 2023. Commentary and some of the report findings, can be read here.

The Social Mobility Commission published an earlier report ‘Improving attainment among disadvantaged students in the FE and adult learning sector‘. This report reviewed and mapped the evidence on what works to improve attainment for disadvantaged students in the FE sector, in order to improve outcomes in the sector.
