The DfE has published 3 surveys and reports into various aspects of adult learning. The first is the Adult Education Survey which looks at the types of participation and barriers to learning in adult education in England. The second is the Adult Participation in Learning Survey which is a survey into adult learning – participation, motivation, barriers to learning and benefits experienced. Finally, the Barriers to Learning for Disadvantaged Groups report looked into the range of barriers to learning that adults face, as well as their motivations and triggers for learning and gives adults’ recommendations on how to encourage others to take up learning.
