The Prime Minister will set out the government’s roadmap for easing lockdown restrictions in England today. The roadmap will seek a balance between social and economic impacts, whilst preserving the health and safety of the country. MPs will vote on the regulations that will enable this roadmap in Parliament in the coming weeks.
Unions have been urging the government not to announce the return of all students to schools on 8 March, warning it “could trigger another spike in Covid infections, prolong the disruption of education, and risk throwing away the hard-won progress made in suppressing the virus over the course of the latest lockdown”.
