Prime Minister Announces the Lifetime Skills Guarantee

The Prime Minister delivered a speech on 29 September introducing the Lifetime Skills Guarantee. His speech outlines plans to upgradeFE colleges with capital investment, expand apprenticeships, fund free technical courses for adults, equivalent to A levels, extend digital boot camps, make it easier to get a loan for a higher technical course, enable FE colleges to access funding on the same terms as universities and give everyone a flexible lifelong loan entitlement to four years of post-18 education. The press release from the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the announcement can be read here and comment on the news is available here. The CIPD has responded to the announcement, welcoming it and commenting that further investment and reforms are needed.
Education Secretary, Gavin Williamson, has intimated that T levels will be available to adults as part of the lifetime skills guarantee.
