Skills bootcamps will focus on sectors with staff shortages due to tighter immigration rules, according to work and pensions secretary Mel Stride. A new government taskforce aims to address recruitment in areas like construction, care, and hospitality, viewing new visa rules as an opportunity for UK jobseekers to fill roles previously held by overseas workers. The taskforce seeks to replicate past initiatives like those used for HGV driver shortages in 2021.
