Skills Minister Robert Halfon has issued a warning to apprenticeship providers with low achievement rates, stating that they may face restrictions on growth and potential removal from the training market. Halfon also highlighted plans to address individual apprenticeship standards with high dropout rates and proposed reforms to the end-point assessment market. While celebrating a rise in apprenticeship achievement rates to 54.3% in 2022/23, he emphasized the government’s commitment to reaching a 67% achievement rate by 2024/25. However, providers showing insufficient improvement, particularly those with high dropout rates, will face tougher measures, including contractual actions. Currently, almost half of all apprentices (44%) drop out before completing their end-point assessment. Halfon outlined that providers with achievement rates below 50% are considered “at risk,” with 282 out of 1,071 providers falling below this benchmark. Only 279 providers have achieved an achievement rate of 67% or higher. Click here for more.
