This article addresses the underspend in traineeships which has been returned to the Treasury. Skills minister Alex Burghart revealed the £65 million underspend in answer to a parliamentary question. It also highlights that DfE data shows that 17,400 starts were achieved in 2020/21, which is 47 % of the target.
