The Learning and Work Institute has published a report entitles ‘Work And Skills For The Long Term Unemployed‘ which argues that a new work and skills initiative is needed for people who are long-term unemployed which gives a universal offer for all long-term unemployed people, including personal advice and guidance on jobs, careers and skills, intensive job search support from a personal advisor, up to 12 months in activities that will build employability as part of a clear plan to find a job, a subsidy to employers to recruit and a bonus payment for getting a job and stay in employment.
